    FAQ's
    Accessibility

    Accessibility

    • Where is Westergas located?

Westergas is centrally located in Amsterdam, just 2 km from Amsterdam Central Station, in the city district of Amsterdam West. Station Sloterdijk is also nearby at 4 km, making the cultural park easily accessible from different parts of the city.

    • How can I get to Westergas?

We encourage visitors to travel by bike or public transport. This is not only a sustainable choice, but also practical, as the Westergas site is largely car-free. That’s why we collaborate with Mobian: park your car at one of Mobian’s parking locations in Amsterdam and receive a discount when you continue your journey by (shared) bike or public transport. This way you travel green, smart, efficient, and often faster, while also supporting the Westergas Foundation. A win-win! Reserve a parking space via this link with Mobian.

    Getting there by bike

      • Cultural Park Westergas is easy to reach (10 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station) and offers plenty of bicycle parking facilities.

    Getting there by car

      • From the A10 Ring Road: take exit S103/S104 (Haarlem) and drive towards the city centre via the Haarlemmerweg. Westergas will be on your left-hand side.
      • From Schiphol Airport: take the A4 towards Amsterdam (A10 Ring Road) and take exit S103 via the Haarlemmerweg towards the city centre. Westergas will be on your left-hand side.

    Getting there by public transport

      • Bus 21 and 22 from Amsterdam Central Station, stop Van Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek.
      • Tram 19 towards Van Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek.
      • Bus 22 from Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station, stop Assendelftstraat.
      • At night, bus N83 runs between Amsterdam Central Station and stop Van Limburg Stirumstraat.
    • Where can I park?

Mobian: Mobian offers flexible Park & Ride solutions that combine parking with easy access to (e-)bikes, taxis or public transport for a seamless journey to popular destinations. By parking at one of Mobian’s locations, you also support the Westergas Foundation. Reserve a parking space via this link.
Q-Park: Reserve an affordable parking space at Q-Park. This is convenient and offers an alternative for visitors arriving by car. Click here for more information.

    • Do the parking garages have charging points for electric cars?

Yes, there are several charging points available in the area around Westergas. The Q-Park Westergasfabriek parking garage has six charging stations, Willemspoort offers twelve, Q-Park Bos en Lommer has four charging points, and P+R Sloterdijk has one charging point available.

    • Can a coach park on the site?

Coaches are not permitted to park on the Westergas site. Passengers can get on and off at the Van Hallstraat/Westergasfabriek bus stop, where space is available for one coach at a time. Please note: parking is not allowed here. For special arrangements or permits, please contact your account manager.

    • What are the options for taxis?

A designated taxi lane can be arranged for your event. Please discuss this option in advance with one of our account managers to ensure everything is properly arranged.

    • Is the park open 24 hours a day?

Yes, Cultural Park Westergas is freely accessible to visitors day and night.

    • Is Westergas a public park?

Yes, both Cultural Park Westergas and the adjacent Westerpark are freely accessible to everyone. You can visit the park at any time to enjoy the green space, culture and various activities. Whether you come to walk, cycle or attend an event, you are always welcome.

    • Accessibility for visitors with disabilities

The Gashouder, De Wester and the Meterhuisje are generally wheelchair accessible; this may vary depending on the event. On the Cultural Park Westergas site, special parking spaces for visitors with disabilities are available in coordination with the gate staff. If you have a valid disabled parking permit, you can contact the gate staff at the main entrance. They will be happy to help you find a suitable parking space, ensuring a comfortable and worry-free visit to Westergas.

    Food & Drinks

    • Are there food and drink venues on the site?

Absolutely! Westergas is home to more than nine restaurants in the Cultural Park. Enjoy a delicious sandwich or quiche at De Bakkerswinkel, a French-inspired meal at Cantine de Caron, a pot of mussels at Mossel & Gin, or relax at the Westergasterras with a view of the Gashouder. You name it — we’ve got it. Check out all food and drink venues here.

    • Am I allowed to bring my own food and drinks?

Yes, you are! Feel free to walk around the park with your own food and drinks. However, consumption is not permitted inside hospitality venues or, for example, inside the Gashouder during events. Luckily, there are plenty of great spots across Westergas where you can enjoy your own food and drinks.

    • Is smoking allowed?

Smoking is not permitted inside Westergas venues such as the Gashouder and De Wester. Smoking is allowed outdoors on the site. For this purpose, special “Peukenzee” cigarette disposal units are placed throughout the park, providing a safe and convenient way to dispose of cigarette butts and helping us keep the area clean together.

    • Are there options for special dietary requirements?

Yes, there are certainly options to accommodate special dietary requirements. For events, you can inform the caterer or organiser in advance so that suitable options can be arranged, such as vegetarian, vegan, or allergen-free dishes.
