About Dorpsfeest Westerpark

Why?
The Westerpark is more than just a park; it is the backyard of thousands of Amsterdammers. With the Westerpark Dorpsfeest, we celebrate the neighbourhood and its residents, making art and culture more accessible to everyone. A day full of music, food, sports, and surprises, made possible by entrepreneurs and partners from the park.

New partner
The Westerpark Dorpsfeest is an initiative of the Westergas Foundation. After a successful first edition in the Gashouder, this year we join forces with Stadsdeel West. Thanks to this collaboration, we are expanding to the entire park, accessible, inclusive, and for everyone.

Cultuurpark Westergas is like a green oasis in our city. A World of its own, where there’s always something to do from early morning until late at night. That feeling comes together in the Westerpark Dorpsfeest.

Looking back
The first edition of the Westerpark Dorpsfeest in 2024 marked the launch of the Westergas Foundation. From exhibitions at Fabrique des Lumières and World Press Photo to live music by Radio Radio and a storytelling corner by Theater De Krakeling. Watch last year’s aftermovie here.

What is Westergas Foundation?

Westergas aims to make art and culture accessible to everyone. To contribute to this goal, the Westergas Foundation was established with the mission: making art and culture more accessible to every Amsterdammer. Westergas and its partners make annual donations to the Foundation to support art and cultural initiatives in the Cultuurdorp and the local community. These donations contribute to talent development and to making the programme more accessible. Visit the Westergas Foundation website here.

What is the buddy system?

Going to an event alone can sometimes feel daunting. Through the buddy system, you can sign up to be ‘adopted’ by a neighbor who is also attending the Westerpark Dorpsfeest, or you can register to experience the breakfast and/or the day together with someone.

If you have signed up for this, we will contact you by email.

Which postal codes are considered 'local residents'?

The neighborhoods directly surrounding Westerpark. These include postal codes 1013, 1014, 1051, and 1055.

I am vegetarian / eat halal. Can I still join the breakfast?

Yes, there will be options enough.

I don't speak Dutch, will this event be for me too?

Yes, if you speak and understand English, this will be for you too!

Do I need to sign up or register for each activity?

Registering for the programme via the online questionnaire or by email is sufficient. Most activities operate on a first come, first served basis on the day itself or are offered multiple times throughout the day so that everyone has a chance to participate.

Only the community breakfast and the Fabrique des Lumières exhibition have limited capacity and require prior registration as stated in the email you received.
