This Privacy Statement informs you how Westergas B.V. (hereinafter referred to as Westergas) handles personal data. Westergas is located at Polonceaukade 9, 1014 DA Amsterdam (postal address: Postbus 59747, 1040 LE Amsterdam) and is registered in the commercial register of the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KVK) under number 96452536. Westergas manages Cultuurpark Westergas and its historical buildings in Amsterdam’s Westerpark. In that context, Westergas rents out its venues to long-term and one-off tenants, organises its own events and partners with various parties to organise (public) events. Westergas also rents out the Meterhuisje as a pop-up venue, for example for exhibitions and presentations.

Westergas is the controller of the personal data provided to us by or on behalf of our contractual parties, and of the personal data we obtain through westergas.nl, by e-mail or through our newsletter.

This Privacy Statement applies to visitors of westergas.nl, clients of Westergas and all other persons whose personal data is processed by Westergas, excluding persons working for Westergas.

Gashouder B.V. is responsible for tickets and events at the Gashouder. Please refer to the privacy statement on gashouder.nl.

Westergas processes (a) personal data you have provided to Westergas, directly or indirectly, and (b) personal data generated when you receive our e-mails or use westergas.nl.

Examples of data you provide to us are your first name, last name, e-mail address and telephone number. Examples of generated data are your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit.

Westergas collects data when, for example, you sign up for the newsletter, send us an e-mail, have made your data public through social media, or use our website or social media. We use this information to deliver and improve our services, for marketing and research purposes, and to offer you good and personal service. We explain this in more detail below.

How do we collect data?

Westergas may collect data about you in the following ways:

• Directly from you – for example when you send us an e-mail with a question, sign up for the newsletter, submit a request for the Meterhuisje through the contact form on our website, or take part in a giveaway organised by Westergas.
• Through our website – to deliver, improve and register our services, Westergas collects various data through westergas.nl, including by means of cookies.
• Through third parties – Westergas uses the services of third parties acting on our behalf. This Privacy Statement also applies to data these third parties collect as processors for Westergas, such as sending our newsletter through Klaviyo. These parties may also collect data for their own purposes. Westergas is not responsible for data collection that does not take place on behalf of Westergas; please refer to the privacy policies of those parties.
• At events – Westergas may process visitors’ data at events it (co-)organises, for example by recording an event on camera for commercial, safety and research purposes. Visitors are always informed of this when entering the event venue.

What data do we collect?

• Contact details – such as your name, address, telephone number and e-mail address.
• Payment and invoicing details – when you do business with us, for example when renting a venue.
• Website data – such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit.
• Data you have made public – such as posts or comments on our social media channels.
• Information about your preferences – such as your interests based on your newsletter preferences or which e-mails you open.
• Data of minors – in the rare cases in which we collect personal data of children, we always ask the parents for consent. We only use this data for the purpose stated at the time of collection.

How and why do we use this data?

Westergas uses the data mentioned above for the following purposes.

To perform the agreement with you. When you enter into an agreement with us, for example when renting a venue or the Meterhuisje, we use your data to:

• assess your request and perform the agreement;
• process the payment;
• provide you with customer service.

For our legitimate business interests:

• market research and analysis, to improve our events and services;
• marketing: information about events, programming and news at Cultuurpark Westergas, for example through our newsletter;
• service e-mails, such as confirmations and reminders;
• preventing or detecting unlawful behaviour and protecting or enforcing our rights, or in other cases permitted by law. For example, we may use your data to prevent misuse of our intellectual property (such as our brands or those of partners), fraud or other crimes.

If you have given your consent:

• to inform you by e-mail or social media about future, similar events. You can change these preferences at any time;
• to show you relevant content and marketing communication on our website and social media.

Who do we share data with?

• External service providers (processors), such as cloud providers that supply the IT infrastructure our systems run on, and Klaviyo for our newsletter;
• partners with whom we organise events (in accordance with their privacy policy);
• other third parties, if you have given your consent;
• government bodies or other competent authorities, where permitted or required by law.

Third-party websites

Except for the parties mentioned above, this Privacy Statement does not apply to third-party websites. Think of websites or apps of event sponsors that Westergas links to, or social media buttons on our website through which those platforms collect your data. Westergas is not responsible for the privacy policies of these parties; we advise you to read them on their own websites.

Westergas.nl places cookies with visitors. Cookies are small text files stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone when you visit a website.

We use cookies to make your visit to the website as easy as possible and to collect statistics on the use and functioning of the website, so we can see which pages perform well. You can disable cookies. Please note that some parts of the website may then not function, or not function properly.

You have the right to ask Westergas which personal data we hold about you and to receive a copy of it. You may have your data corrected, supplemented or erased, and you can object to its processing.

We do not retain your data longer than necessary to provide the services you requested. After that, we securely delete it in accordance with our company policy.

Westergas has put in place appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against loss or unlawful processing. These measures are updated regularly. Only employees who need the data for their work have access to it.

The internet is never 100% secure. Please take the necessary precautions yourself as well, and never share your password with others.

Westergas may change this Privacy Statement. We therefore advise you to check this page regularly for changes. We will inform you of significant changes and, where necessary, ask for your consent again.
