About the Westergas Foundation

Westergas wants to make art and culture accessible to every Amsterdammer. This is why the Westergas Foundation was brought to life. Westergas and partners make annual donations to the Foundation to finance arts and culture initiatives for the neighbourhood, talent development and making its programming more accessible.

What does the Westergas Foundation do?

Mission

Making art and culture more accessible to every resident of Amsterdam.

1. Local Art & Culture Initiatives

The Westergas Foundation provides financial support to neighborhood projects that make art and culture more accessible to everyone. Additionally, we offer a platform on Westergas to showcase the initiatives, customized to the form of art.

Every summer, in collaboration with our tenants, we organize a neighborhood festival on the grounds, free for everyone in the area. This event offers a diverse program for all ages.

2. Talent Development

Westergas aims to invest in initiatives centered on talent development in various forms of art and culture. To support young talent and 0ffer them a platform, the Westergas Foundation also makes their locations and her expertise available for performances.

3. Making Programming Accessible

The Westergas Foundation wants to extend the experience of the Cultural Village beyond Westergas’ programming in its buildings. For example, at least once a year, the Westergas Foundation aims to partner, to exhibit art in the outdoor space for a longer period of time, making it freely accessible to visitors. Through TicketsForGood, we also offer free and heavily discounted tickets to healthcare and education workers, together with our partners.
