In the summer of 2026, Amsterdam takes centre stage as the host of WorldPride, the world’s largest international LGBTQIA+ celebration, while also marking 25 years of marriage equality. In 2001, the world’s first same-sex couple married at Amsterdam City Hall, a landmark moment that changed history. Now, a quarter of a century later, the city celebrates how far we’ve come while continuing the fight for the progress still to be made. And Amsterdam West is celebrating too!

Milkshake Festival opens the WorldPride weeks in true Milkshake style: nine stages, more than a thousand performers per day, and a crowd that is unapologetically itself. For over a decade, Milkshake has celebrated the idea that joy, music and clothing have nothing to do with status, gender or sexuality. This year brings an extra reason to celebrate: the festival marks its 15th anniversary.

On Friday 24 July, Mini Milkshake takes place – a festival for people with a learning disability or for those who, for any reason, cannot easily attend a regular festival. On Sunday morning, there will be a special anniversary brunch for (pink) seniors (registration is closed).

Club Radio Radio, the intimate underground club at Westergas, steps outside its walls and into the open air. The Radio Radio queer community will host daily live radio broadcasts from the Kiosk on the Marktplein, right across from the club. Expect interviews, DJ sets and stories from the local queer scene. Just drop in, listen, and maybe even share something yourself.

During World Pride, We Are Queer, the popular queer gym from Amsterdam East, is opening an eleven-day pop-up at the Meterhuisje. Visitors can take part in an inspiring program featuring accessible sports classes, including strength training, yoga, dance, and running. Beyond physical activity, there is space for connection, with panel discussions on queer sports and inclusion, workshops, and community events. An exhibition open daily, featuring work by World Press photographer Prins de Vos, immerses visitors in the story of WERQ and shows how sports can foster connection, visibility, and a stronger queer community.

Dancers in spectacular costumes, acclaimed DJs, plenty of sweat and a striking stage design: Funhouse is a Pride-week classic. A ten-hour marathon party that sells out every year.

On Friday 31 July, the Community Gathering U+Man Nature takes place. Panel talks and performances bring together activists, artists and policymakers, including the Mayor of West Hollywood, John Erickson.

The gathering is organised by Tess van Zwol × Outloud × Wetto Pride × Rapido Events. From 16:00 to 21:00, free entry, registration required.

Two nights of outdoor cinema at the Radio Radio Kiosk, curated by Filmhuis Cavia, Amsterdam West’s beloved community cinema that has been a gathering place for the LGBTQ+ community for more than forty years. Together with Radio Radio, Cavia celebrates Amsterdam as a WorldPride city with a selection of festive films that invite reflection on themes such as patriarchy, racism, and heteronormativity through a queer lens.

In the 70s and 80s, Eddy’s house, the big Sma of the Black queer community, was a meeting place for many free spirits from Amsterdam. From 18:30, join a conversation, laced with music and food, about the past and present, young and old. Expect a special evening for and by the Black queer community, neighbors and other Amsterdammers, with Eddy, now 82 years old, present himself. Moderators: Sher Ewo and Frank Wijdenbosch.

The familiar Sunday Market at Westergas gets a WorldPride makeover for one week only: a special edition featuring local makers, queer entrepreneurs, and the joyful chaos of a summer market in the park. Open for everyone, free to explore and enjoy.

Europe’s largest Black Queer Festival takes over WestWeelde for two historic days. On Monday 4 August, the Black Queer Market opens its doors (free entry, 12:00–19:00). On Tuesday 5 August, the main programme follows with Pon Di Pride, Amsterdam’s longest-running Black LGBTQIA+ Caribbean club night, alongside film screenings, workshops and the Black Pride Summit. From in-depth conversations to dancefloors in motion, this is not to be missed.
